Soft AP (Oak WiFI Config) problem after 1.0 update...
« on: March 21, 2016, 01:32:47 pm »
Hello,

Soft AP (Oak WiFI Config) give out: Unable do connect to Oak, please endure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry.

The Oak was OK @ 0.9.5. It stoped running code after Arduino updated the core to 1.0.

I already did factory restore and it finishes OK. The status LED blinks once a second but the WiFi configuration does not conplete.

Whem connnected to the OAK ACORN-XXXXXX I able to get:

Just tried the oakupsrv but the WiFi Config does the same: Unable do connect to Oak, please endure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry.

Note: I was connected to the ACORN-XXXXXX.

I do not know what to try next. It was wonderfull @ 0.9.5 and now it is just a LED blinking that I can access some URLs on it...

Can you provide a bit more detail as to where it is failing to connect - is it after it waits for the Oak to update and then asks you to reconnect to the Oak?

Hi!

It is just after I enter the Particle´s login/password then connect to ACORN-XXXXX. It never find the OAK spitting out: "Unable do connect to Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry."

But I can verify I am connected.

Are you connecting with your laptop or phone? I had issues where my phone would connect but I could still see my mobile data symbol (an LTE near my signal strength). When that happened, I had to manually turn off mobile data for the wifi connection to be recognized or it would just hang.

If you're not on your phone, perhaps try it. I've had better luck with my phone (actually, my laptop won't even connect to the Oak's wifi).

Can you provide a bit more detail as to where it is failing to connect - is it after it waits for the Oak to update and then asks you to reconnect to the Oak?

Tried everything: Laptop, desktop, iPhone and Android 😫

Last attempt:
1 - factory reset with a 3.3V FTDI adapter;
2 - power off;
3 - power on Oak ant it's LED immediately blinks slowly (kind of once a second);
4 - on Chrome opened http://rawgit.com/digistump/OakSoftAP/master/config.html;
5 - enter user/password for particle's account and click LOGIN;
6 - connect to the ACORN-XXXXXX as instructed;
7 - click on NEXT;
8 - can see for a second the message: Attempting to connect to your Oak...
9 - almost immediately get the message in red color: Unable do connect to Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry;
10 - click RETRY many times and always get: Unable do connect to Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry.
11 - to check I still connected to Oak's WiFi I open http://192.168.0.1/info and get:
{"id":"d95704010311a42a45486918","claimed":0,"claim_code":"","server_address_type":1,"server_address_domain":"device.spark.io","firmware_version":0,"version_string":"","meta_id":0,"meta_data":"","first_update_domain":"oakota.digistump.com","first_update_url":"/firmware/firmware_v1.bin","first_update_fingerprint":"98 66 d5 5c 3d 4a 49 24 e3 1b 72 8b 8f 2e 65 2e 32 2a 7b 95”}

 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Also tried the same stuff with the Local Update Tool running on a Mac and using an Android phone to open the url presented on my Mac. Exactly the same results...

I'm regretting updating fron 0.9.5 that was working OK 😁

Something else to try?

Best regards,
Nelson

Not a line of the connection / tiemout code changed from 0.9.5, which is why I don't have any great ideas here...

Can you try saving config.html to disk and then opening that, also ensure you aren't also connected to ethernet or another form of internet on that same machine

Right click this link: http://rawgit.com/digistump/OakSoftAP/master/config.html
And select save link as - save it and then open it from your computer.

Right click this link: http://rawgit.com/digistump/OakSoftAP/master/config.html
And select save link as - save it and then open it from your computer.

Saving the config.html to local hard drive did not help.

I did the update over serial as instructed: esptool --baud 115200 --port YOUR_COM_PORT write_flash -fs 32m 0x1000 blank.bin 0x2000 firmware_v1.bin 0x101000 blank.bin 0x102000 blank.bin 0x202000 blank.bin

To check to update I connected to Oak´s AP ACORN-XXXXX and opened: http://192.168.0.1/info
Got the:
{"id":"d95704010311a42a45486918","claimed":0,"claim_code":"","server_address_type":1,"server_address_domain":"device.spark.io","system_version":6,"version_string":"1.0.0","meta_id":0,"meta_data":"","first_update_domain":"oakota.digistump.com","first_update_url":"/firmware/firmware_v1.bin","first_update_fingerprint":"98 66 d5 5c 3d 4a 49 24 e3 1b 72 8b 8f 2e 65 2e 32 2a 7b 95"}

Then again tried:
1 - power off;
2 - power on Oak ant it's LED immediately blinks slowly (kind of once a second);
3 - on Chrome opened http://rawgit.com/digistump/OakSoftAP/master/config.html;
4 - enter user/password for particle's account and click LOGIN;
5 - connect to the ACORN-XXXXXX as instructed;
6 - click on NEXT;
7 - can see for a second the message: Attempting to connect to your Oak...
8 - almost immediately get the message in red color: Unable do connect to Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry;

Tried on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. It looks like a problem on the config.html logic.

Please adivise!

Just to clarify.

When connected to ACORN-XXXXX and clik NEXT on the Soft AP (config.html) the screen reload (very fas) as it talks to the Oak but get something it does not like and shoe in RED: Unable to connect to your Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry.

At that point I'm connected ONLY to Oks´s ACORN-XXXXX AP. No INTERNET!

I can click NEXT as many times I whant to juste get the config.html  reloaded with the RED message.

If I disconnect the Oak (power off) and click NEXT then I get the following:
Oak WiFi Config
Attempting to connect to your Oak...

After some time (30~40 seconds) then I get the RED message again: Unable to connect to your Oak, please ensure you are connected to the Oak´s network and retry.

Can you open the Chrome Inspector or Firefox Firebug before you click next and see what is in the console? and on the network tab?

Two things would cause the unable to connect message to appear quickly:

An Oak giving an invalid response to 192.168.0.1/scan-ap - you can go to that URL to see, perhaps worth checking that is valid JSON being returned to (if you want to paste it here I can check that)

A network/browser setup that isn't allowing the browser to talk to 192.168.0.1 via javascript

In a desperate try to get the Oks's WiFi and registered at Particle.io I
1 - Open the SoftAP URL;
2 - Input user/password and click LOGIN;
3 - Connect to ACORN-XXXXX but assigned a fixed IP of 192.168.0.22 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns 192.168.0.1;
4 - Click NEXT and surprise!!!!! It went ahead...
5 - Choose WiFi access point;
6 - Input WiFi password;
7 - Had to claim the OAK manually at Particle.io;
8 - It is working and uploading fron Arduino 1.6.5 R2

Hope it helps to fix the problem with WiFi setup

How do you manually claim on particle? Mine was listed in my account and I could then give it a name... did you do something different than that?
