Can't setup Dighistump Oak
« on: April 02, 2017, 01:10:04 pm »
Hey, I got my Oak a few days ago, and cannot seem to set it up properly. After attempting the given instructions on troubleshooting, I got the error message from the apt tool: "
Code: [Select]
2017-04-02 16:09:14 Firmware request finished for 192.168.1.10 (Reason: [Failure instance: Traceback (failure with no frames): <class 'twisted.internet.error.ConnectionLost'>: Connection to the other side was lost in a non-clean fashion: Connection lost.
])
2017-04-02 16:09:14 Early termination to: 192.168.1.10 (473088 bytes written, fail count = 1)
2017-04-02 16:09:14 Finishing firmware transfer to: 192.168.1.10 (1 transfers done)
I'm not sure what to do or how to fix it, and would appreciate it if anyone had advice.

It may be ok still... I can't remember if the local update process exits 'cleanly' when the update is successful... I don't think it does.

Have a look at the manual claim process, and see if that fixes things... it has probably updated, but not claimed on Particle. You'll get some idea if once you're connected to your Oak you goto http://192.168.0.1/info and see what version of the firmware it is running... 1.0.6 or 10 is the latest IIIRC.

... what Peter said. What blink pattern do you see? If you're getting a triple-blink then it's probably a claim issue. Otherwise, check the wiki links, or this one: http://digistump.com/board/index.php/topic,2046.0.html

Hm... the firmware version is 0, which means it is still only running the simple config and self-update firmware, and that the update hasn't been successful. I presume you've tried to update a couple of times, and get the same results?

If you have USB to Serial adapter (which if you don't, would be a good idea to get... you get them for US $1-2 inc postage from eBay - for a CH340 based 3.3v one), the easiest way to get this resolved is to follow the Easy Serial Update instructions, and just flash the firmware via serial, and you shouldn't have any major issues past that. Otherwise, some more fiddling and farting around will be needed, and I'm not familiar enough with the local update tool to help you with that. I can suggest that if you can, try a different machine, as it is sometimes fussy about something on your laptops wireless connection, as I could never configure an Oak using my laptop, but my tablet and phone had no issues. :-/
