Actually, I'd like to connect an Oak to my motorcycle. I realize one option is to simply buy a USB adapter, but I'd like to know if the regulator on the Oak is able to handle being plugged in directly.

While I think the Oak can handle the 12V I read somewhere on the forum that it does stress the regulator. You may want to consider the addition of this...
