Garage door remote
« on: March 30, 2014, 08:50:22 am »
One thing I've been wanting to do for a while is to use a Digispark to help replace one of our garage door remotes. I figured I could use a NRF24L01 (or perhaps a Bluetooth module), and just tap into the wires for the existing wall switch inside the garage.

My first thought was to use a relay, but is there any reason I couldn't use a MOSFET? Either way, I should just be able to wire it in parallel with the existing switch, and trigger the connection briefly to open/close the door.

If you haven't done this yet, also check the voltage on the wires. We found that certain wired garage door openers are NO, not NC.  The easier hack was to just buy another remote, remove the button and replace it with a relay and have a transistor trip the relay.
