Having a rural box which requires a walk to check for mail I'm thinking of creating a mailbox tender that is cloud connected via an Oak bridge. The idea is to have a sensor in the box that that notes when open (either via magnetic or tilt switch and a light sensor to note light or dark when opened. Since I would like to keep the Oak (with it's WiFi credentials) out of the box I'm thinking some cheap micro (say digispark) in the box with RF24 to an Oak running both RF24 and WiFi.
Since I already pull cloud info to an in house display I can check if the box was opened or not (need a counter reset at least locally). Light or dark at open and more than one open per day could be an indication of meddling (sp?).
Thoughts? Anyone do something similar?
