Title: PCBs.io design tutorials compatibility
Post by: DeuxVis on July 04, 2016, 07:19:23 am
If you don't know about http://PCBs.io this is a Printed Circuit Board making service / community recently launched by Digistump : http://digistump.com/news/34

I just noticed that the design rules there seems identical - please correct me if I am wrong - to those of OSH Park , so that means all of their Design tools tutorials should also apply to PCBS.io, great news !

Those tutorials are here : http://docs.oshpark.com/design-tools/

Note for later :
In order to have PCBs.io accept my Kicad design exported as described by the oshpark tutorial, I only had to change the Edge.Cuts file extension  from .gm1 to .gko

Edit : Not sufficient, the vias were not drilled that way. Probably have to re-export the drill file  from kicad using a different set of options.

Trying again with another design. This time I didn't need to rename any file, maybe PCBs.io improved their upload / gerber analyze process ?

The only thing not mentioned in the OSH Park tutorial is that I also checked the "Do not tent vias" tickbox in Kicad gerber export.

Anyway I checked and the preview show that the vias will be drilled - see attachment.

Also attached are the Top side previews from PCBs.io and OSH Park for comparison.
