Title: Oak compatibility with NodeMCU
Post by: ekarlso on September 28, 2015, 02:43:55 pm
Hi, would the Oak firmware be compatible with the NodeMCU Rev 0.9?

Seeing that alot of people already have esp8266 dev boards it would be nice. I've got some already and ordered the oak too so !

From the kickstarter FAQ:

Quote
The Oak is ESP8266EX based but its similarity with other ESP8266 boards ends at the chip - its running a larger memory chip, completely custom bootloader, custom firmware, and a much more stable circuit setup then the other boards out there.

This suggests that the chip and bootloader will probably not be exchangable right now, but if the source code for the bootloader is released you should be able to port the features you like to the regular ESP8266 I guess.
