Title: WS2812D
Post by: gogol on July 17, 2014, 01:28:18 am
Hello,

in spring there was the discussion about the new WS2812D LED, an 8mm standalone version of the WS2812B.  See the blog from forum member clpdcpu: http://cpldcpu.wordpress.com/2014/02/18/new-member-of-the-ws2812-family/

I hoped, that those devices start getting available in number soon, but it looks like, that its already dead: https://www.tindie.com/products/RobG/ws2812d-8mm-rgb-led/

Has anybody here better information about possible sources and availability?

Adafruit has some, both in 8mm (https://www.adafruit.com/products/1734) and 5mm (https://www.adafruit.com/products/1938) sizes.

I'm sure they can be found cheaper elsewhere, but I haven't tried tracking them down.

there are apa106 ic 8mm 5mm is much better than ws2812d, you can have a look the parameter https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9Fu0H-K23r2TjNDQmJXaDRWcUU/edit?usp=sharing

They look like the exact same product to me, except sparkfun's datasheet doesn't have the name and link to "Shenzen led color opto electronic co. ltd"
Maybe they removed it ? Or you added it ? :)
