Problems with Rev 2 Digisparks

I have two Digispark CC BY-SA 3.0 rev 2 boards, and I cannot get them to work or even be recognized by Arduino as a target.  I've added the recommended rules but still no dice.  It looks like they are getting properly recognized, but then the kernel starts kicking out messages and no
UDB device is ever assigned.  Any ideas on this one?  The related dmesg is below

Can you be a little more specific about what you are doing and expecting?


Have you gone through the instructions on the wiki? In particular, to upload a sketch, leave the Digispark unplugged, click the upload button in the Arduino IDE, then when you see the message instructing you to plug in the Digispark, do so at that time.


They will not show up as normal USB devices by default (except that for the first 5 seconds after plugging them in, the bootloader will register itself and see if you are trying to programming it, then it will disconnect again).
