Would be nice to have a shield that clips onto a 9V battery.

That\'s literally just any other shield with a 9V battery connector soldered to the GND and VIN pins.

Not talking about just an electrical connection.
To go battery powered, you need some battery holder wired to the board (w/ boost ) which will then need to be secured.
If you had a shield with the 9V + & - connectors mounted to the board, you\'d take care of the electrical and physical mounting in one.

That seems unnecessarily restrictive. If you solder a 9V connector with wires (http://www.led-tech.de/images/products/resized/LT-362-1264685968.jpg) onto the board then you can position the battery wherever you want in relation to the digispark and other shields. If you had a shield with 9V terminals directly attached to it, you\'d have to have the battery sticking up from the shield.

I\'ve been reading in the other Arduino groups that the 9v battery meant for fire alarms is not that suitable for Arduinos long term, since you are wasting about 1/2 of the power of the battery, and it doesn\'t have much capacity. But it is very convenient, in that you only have one battery to deal with and it is a reasonable size.

Yes, not the most efficient power wise, but enough VIN for motors, etc. and super convenient.
