manxtu - I've split this into its own topic - please try the things in the troubleshooting section on the wiki - including different ports, usb extension cable, and a hub - let us know if none of that works and then let us know the OS you are using.

Thanks,
Erik

Hi

I have the same issue. I have 5 digispark. I can upload sketch on 4 digispark, but I can't with one digispark. When I plug it in the usb port, the led is blinking, but the digispark it is not reconized by the arduino environnement.

Erik and others
I have had mixed results, but I think I have clarified the problem...
Desktop with Win7 64 bit and USB2 and USB3 ports works.

Laptop with Win7 64 bit and USB3 ports was intermittant.

Compounding this was the cheap extension cables that DON'T have spring type contacts. Sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn't and with the lack of metal sleeve to hold the contacts together, it was hit and miss.
(for NZ/AUS ... Dick Smith sell a 'gold' extension for NZ$20 that has spring contacts)

Driver
Windows seems to take a while to sort out the driver, and it seems to have x goes, then gives up.

To start fresh, you can use the following which worked for me.

Windows adds a OEMxx.inf into C:\windows\inf directory. (sort by date is easiest)
If windows can sort out the driver, it generates a OEMxx.pnf file to match the .inf
(You can check you have the right file by opening the .inf in notepad and checking it says Digispark bootloader.)
Delete them, and the others that are generated for each port you've tried.

Make sure the Arduino/Digispark IDE isn't running, and the Digispark is removed.
Run the InstallDriver.exe in the Digispark - Windows Driver folder.

Plug in your Digispark using your new cable, and it should install the driver.

USB3 Voltage
The spec says it can be lower in voltage, however I have measured the Laptop Output at 4.7x volts, and the powered Hub I purchased at 4.7x on the 5v line.
I can't see that this is causing the issues, but it may be worth using a powered Hub.
(Dick Smith have a $12 Cup and Saucer that includes a 2A power pack and multi card reader ...cheap and cheesy or should that be cheap and saucy)

Permissions
I was sometimes having issues with the uploading and it reporting micronucleus files not available.
Despite my having Admin privildege on both machines, it seems it needs to ask to run some files as Admin.

Right Click on the IDE shortcut (or the .exe) and select properties, select the Compatability tab, and change the Privilege Level to 'run as an administrator'.

Hopefully this might help someone.

Enjoy
Mark

I have a notebook, Lenovo W510 Type 4318-CTO, Win7 x64, AMD quad core, with 2x USB3 and 1x USB2. The DigiSpark loader won't recognize the DigiSpark boards on either of the USB3 ports but it will recognize USB2. Also I have a Lenovo docking station Type 4338, with 4x USB2 and the bootloader is fine with those ports.

I use the USB3 frequently with external drives, high speed CF/SD card readers, USB drives both USB2 and USB3, and other devices: no problems.

My laptop was the same, worked with everything else, intermittant with the digispark.

Do you need an extension cable to plug the digispark in or will it fit the port.?

You can also check how far they are going in, by looking at the slight mark on the gold pins.

Mark.

and so on

on my docking station i get something similar but shorter:

Feb 11 17:38:42 arbeitstier mtp-probe: bus: 2, device: 6 was not an MTP device
Feb 11 17:38:46 arbeitstier kernel: [ 7272.355687] usb 2-1.5.4: USB disconnect, device number 6

This looks fine - what is happening in the Arduino IDE after you hit upload? Does it sit at Plug in device or are you getting errors?
