Acorn by Digistump programming
« on: July 29, 2017, 06:16:07 am »
Hi,

Since I haven't found any details on this yet - both wiki and the forum - and being a newbie when it comes to electronics:

How to go about programming an Acorn?

Having picked one up, it states "ESP8266-12F" on the back. Would it work by using an IO Adapter Plate Expansion from one of these kits? (see attachment)

If yes, would the circuitry be the same i.e. pin placement, etc.

If not, what other alternative should I consider for the Acorn?

Thanks in advance!

This should help - it wasn't originally, but Erik did re-work the Acorn final design that it was a drop-in alternative to the ESP12.

The Acron module has been reworked to have the same pinout and dimensions as the ESP12 - so it is now a drop in, cloud ready, with more flash replacement (with a pretty different inside design) for those modules. So the dimensions (or close to them) and pinout of say this (http://l0l.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ESP12pinout.jpg) apply - though not the internal circuit, routing, or anything else.
