Or... 6 and 3 no cutting. I believe you can get both from Sparkfun, albeit for .50 each. A 10 pin reduced to 9 pin is probably the cheapest and easiest way to go.

Whenever a cut is made a pin is lost - so cutting a 6 gives a 3 and a 2. Also each cut end can take some trimming so it isn't too wide if put against another header. An 8 could make two 3's - just put the cut edge on the outside. Solder (on the pins) is the glue
