Digispark not recognized on Windows 8.1
« on: August 29, 2015, 05:01:16 pm »
 >:( Arrrrgh! My Digispark is once again getting USB device not recognized on my Win 8.1 machine with Arduino 1.6.5r installed. For the life of me I cannot figure out what change or why it is not working. It's still running the blink program from the last time I had it in the machine. What is the magic that it needed? How do I ensure that I have the proper USB driver for it. Come up in Device Manager as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".  How much do you want to bet I will work on my Win 7 system? I really would prefer that it work reliably on my Win 8.1 system. Help...if you have the magic.

:-\This is driving me crazy. OK tried another USB port (which happened to be previously occupied) and wah la, it worked. Extremely frustrating when you want to try a simple sketch and instead spend hours trying to figure out why the Digispark is not recognized. Shouldn't have to reconfigure / move to occupied ports to get it to work, but that looks like what I'll have to accept. Again this is Win 8.1. No issues on Win 7. Not even considering Win 10 until forced to go there.

Haven't tried a spark on Win_10 yet as I'm not being active with them just now.  But if you scan the forum you'll find this is somewhat common - Partly windows - maybe more so with the sparks.  Win_10 has improved some USB behavior - may not affect this though.
