2 Digispark Pros - cannot get Drivers to be recognized

Received my Digispark Pro's a few weeks ago and have no gotten around to try them out.
i've loaded the Digispark Pro add-ons and when I load the IDE, it gives me the option to use the DigiSpark Pro, but the device is not recognized in Device Manager.
Strange things - it appeared to start up - (I get the distinctive "connect" sound and the refresh of the DM screen, but in a few seconds, the disconnect sound well... sounds, and no device.
I've tried it on my other port and same thing.
Another thing that happened - When I used an external 4-port (powered) USB Hub, when I plugged the DS-Pro into a port, the port light on the Hub would light up, the notebook would beep, the DM screen showed a new "Unknown Device" for about 2 seconds, the the "disconnect" beep and the screen refresh and the "unknown device" disappeard. It would do this THE FIRST time I plugged it into the other 3 ports, also, disappearing after about 2 seconds.
THEN, when I would plug the DS-Pro into those ports again, I would get the "connect" beep, but no "Unknown Device" and then the "disconnect" beep. It's like the port remembered that this device was not a device or something.
I have tried this on 2 never been used Digispark Pro's.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A few seconds is the right amount.  The DigiSpark bootloader waits 5 seconds for new code, and then the USB goes offline to execute what it already has.  The 'USB device' will only be visible for that power up interval, and if the IDE is watching it will catch the waiting bootloader and push in the new code.

The DigiSpark goes 'device unknown' when the 5 seconds passes and it stops looking to connect.

If you are on USB 3 the hub (USB 2) might be helping, My USB 3 ports fail Win 7 & 8.  On this Win 8 tablet I have only one USB 3 that failed, put on a cheap unpowered hub and it worked under the old IDE install.  The hub is so cheap the connector takes 20 seconds of work to insert carefully, I added a M/F adapter to save my computer.

Some cables won't work - it will fail to recognize it plugged in at all.
Sometimes a powered USB Hub is needed.

I'm going to assume that works.
i say that 'cause i'm getting an error each time i try an load:
Java.io.IOException: Cannot run Program:
...\avrdude"; Create Process error=2 the system cannot find the file specified at

It goes on from there to list about 15 other files.

I spent some time troubleshooting parts of that (the usb) - but seems reliable now.  Even jumping UNO to PRO with both plugged in!

Assuming Windows?  Did you run .exe or just extract from .zip?  Any old copies like Digix IDE?
As far as the compile errors - the only time I saw oddities the Arduino environment was confused.  It seemed like the IDE had some hardcoded locations in mind and I had another version there, installed DIGIX, tried to run PRO.  I deleted everything old and started fresh to get working.

This last time I got the ZIP and just made documents/Arduino from extracting and it worked.  I think I may have used the installer before when I had a DIGIX copy around or something that led to IDE confusion.  Now of course one install works for UNO and all three DigiStumps.  Perhaps all will work if you clean out old Arduino and start fresh.

*Note: My last working Arduino got renamed to .old to preserve it, and I can still run from there as I did before the new FLAT copy to docs\Arduino.

I will try this - cleaning out & installing clean is a good start if only to eliminate the possibility of confusion of where the IDE should be looking.
I'll get back with you all on this.
