Kickstarter order received, but missing parts in almost every kit.

The RGB led kit should have 3 resisters, but all of mine instead came with a .1 uf capacitor (104)?
Others had similar mistakes, how do I get these corrected?

Hey! I also got my stuff today and noticed the kit issues. My issue though is that the LED boards on KS were SMD version, and I need SMD and not through-hole for my projects! The capacitor is correct. Check the board and you'll see there's 2 small holes and directly under them is printed "0.1 uf" - that's where it should go. But these don't match the kits advertised.

These are nearly identical to the Digispark's RGB LED shield kit. The pro RGB LED kits were supposed I be surface mount WS282 LEDs. You can see these in photos on the KS page. This is why I bought these kits instead of the regular old straw hat kits.

We'll see what the result is.

There are two RGB LED kits:

The DigiLED - which you both ordered, which is a through hole WS2812 style LED - they contain a capacitor and an LED

The RGB LED kit - which contains a standard RGB LED and 3 resistors

@traphyk - we sent an update a month or so ago about the change from SMD to through hole versions and invited anyone to contact us if they wanted a refund to have the LED kits removed before their order shipped. We're also happy to accept the return of any of the LED kits for a refund. At first, I had the same confusion/concern about the two types of LED shield. However, now that I've had a chance to play with the new DigiLED I am really impressed! These are clearer and brighter than any RGB LED I have ever had. The colors are crisp and clean -- yellow actually looks YELLOW.

I also wanted the surface mount but I get that things happen beyond Digistump's control, and they did let us know ahead of the shipments. If you really want surface mount, just search for WS2812 and you can find them around for a reasonable cost by themselves or on breakout boards.

@digistump - I never received update #14. I can see it via the site page, but not in my email or via KS messages. I'm assuming it's a glitch in their system. I never knew that you chose through holes in place of the smd's. Do these still have the chip? That's the impression I'm getting but I'm not sure because you can't tell from the LEDs themselves. Also- which leads are which? Mine all have two sets of two leads at the same length. So no easy way to tell. If they're on the tutorial page I can check there later. I can make use of these, but they're just not ideal because of what I needed them for. If you ever have an SMD version, PLEASE let me know, and I'll probably by a ton. I could use them. Last, if these have the onboard chip - don't we only need one pin to communicate? I remember mention of blue's PWM being software only so I'm a bit confused.

I can see why they'd be more expensive than the SMD counterpart if they have the chips, because the chips would have to be smaller.

Anyway, I do appreciate the free protoboard included, and I did already send an email to support. My concern was that I was the 9th beta backer and somehow didn't receive my addons until far later in the queue. My point was that I think a flaw existed in how you split the orders, because I got my beta kit the day after they shipped, but I was put back above 600 in the queue for the rest of my order. I just wanted to make you aware that it happened, because it seems like it wasn't clear. 

@ej.cardinal - trust me, I know. I've paid ~$11 for 75 WS2812s from my distributor. I'm well aware they're readily available and I'm familiar with the price. I was hoping more for the boards (PCBs) to put them on. My younger sister would like to learn some of what I do for a living, and she isn't familiar with electronics at all. If I handed her a ready to go board she could play with them, and later on could replicate one of my projects (which is what she wants to do, and requires surface mounted components- the boards and smd LEDs would fit perfectly.

The WS2812B controller has 4 wires, input, output, ground, and power.  If you are only hooking up a single LED, you do not need the output wire connection.  You do need the ground and power connection.

Any reference to blue PWM would be from the RGB Kit tutorial - which is different and is a kit without the chip inside.

Re: backer order - We ship by backer order - So if you were Beta backer #9 but project backer 600 - your beta would ship fast because we shipped Betas first, but the rest of your stuff would ship in spot 600. That is how it is intended to work, I apologize if that wasn't clear, I'll make sure it is if we do Betas again on another project.

Re: SMT version - we may add one in the future, but for now you should checkout something like this: https://www.tindie.com/products/BBTech/ws2812b-flexibility-matrix-board/ - they will chain on to our version just fine - or can be wired directly to the digispark
