Does anyone know if the regulator will overheat if the Digispark is powered off of 24 volts? I see that 12 volts is recommended but I would love to be able to accomplish my goal with minimal extra components. Thanks!

depends on how much power you will need. The regulator can be powered on 24 Volt and provide up to 500 mA ... BUT not both at the same time. So if you source the Digispark on 24 Volt you have to reduce the power consumption.
