WS2812D

(1/1)

gogol:
Hello,

in spring there was the discussion about the new WS2812D LED, an 8mm standalone version of the WS2812B.  See the blog from forum member clpdcpu: http://cpldcpu.wordpress.com/2014/02/18/new-member-of-the-ws2812-family/

I hoped, that those devices start getting available in number soon, but it looks like, that its already dead: https://www.tindie.com/products/RobG/ws2812d-8mm-rgb-led/

Has anybody here better information about possible sources and availability?

dougal:
Adafruit has some, both in 8mm and 5mm sizes.

I'm sure they can be found cheaper elsewhere, but I haven't tried tracking them down.

Bluebie:
SparkFun also sells the 8mm variety and have heaps of stock: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12877

They look like the exact same product to me, except sparkfun's datasheet doesn't have the name and link to "Shenzen led color opto electronic co. ltd"
Maybe they removed it ? Or you added it ? :)

Nick1980:
We estimate APA106 protocol is different with WS2811 protocol. whether you have try them
