What's this component on my Digispark rev.3 ?

I suspect it to be burned, and I would like to have its reference for me to replace it myself.

That is a protection diode for USB (to prevent, that you source USB with power from the digispark, wehn external power is connected.
This is know to break time by time, if you are not careful enough.

I just soldered a 1A standard diode on that position: see here

Do you really have a rev 3? Does it say rev 3 on it? If it does - I'd love to know where you purchased it from.

@Digistump: yes, label "rev3" is located on the usb connector of the Digispark.

That is actually a counterfeit (or clone using our trademark name if you prefer) Digispark - what's crazy is that they are charging more than we do for it!

Rev4 direct from Digistump or our distributors (listed on our site) are the only true Digisparks. They likely used junk parts for the diodes - as the right ones are not the cheapest ones.

It is a counterfeit product? No! I didn't know, truely. This is perhaps the reason why the usb serial emulation never worked. Perhaps... I don't know in fact.


BTW, why did you never used Rev3 labels, if you are using Rev4 now?

Yes, they are charging more, but after adding delivery costs, it is a little bit less expensive.

But anyway, this is not the real reason why I bought it on ebay. The reason is that it is so easy and fast to pay on ebay
Paypal payment, pre-filled addresses, just a button to click and this is done.
Why don't you create an official Digistump selling point on ebay (for all of your models)?

Rev3 never made it out of the factory due to a mistake on it - so we went right to rev4.

I agree - ebay is easy to buy things on - I use it a lot and hope to list our products on it at some point, the only reason we haven't is time - perhaps a distributor will at some point, if we don't get to it first.

just for curiosity: What is the difference between rev. 2 and rev. 4 ?
(Between 1 and 2 it is the pin for the LED, which was changed not to break I2C)

rev4 has an extended USB plug to work better with USB 3 ports, cases, etc.

i followed the trick of the 1A diod,  and my rev3 digispark  clone is alive now.  thx for the help!
