Odd shaped "Digispark Shield"
« on: December 02, 2013, 01:19:31 pm »
I just received my DigiX in the mail.  A small board labelled "Digispark Shield" was included.  2 questions:

1)  What do I do with it?
2) What should I be reading on this site?
If I missed this gizmo there must be other important info I have not seen.

I haven't gotten my DigiX yet, but if you had bought both digisparks and digiX during their respective kickstarter campaigns, you would get the double backer kit for free: http://digistump.com/products/85

The double backer board was first mentioned in update #13 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/digistump/digix-the-ultimate-arduino-compatible-board-with-w/posts?page=2).  The last update # is 18.

This post shows a picture of the Level Shifter Shield, DigiX, double backer shield, and nRF24L01+ wireless communication board : http://digistump.com/board/index.php/topic,1171.0.html

It is the DOuble Backer Bonus - which is a shield for the DigiX that allows you to use Digispark shields with it  - assembly should be pretty obvious but I will try to get a wiki page up for it tonight

Hi, assembly was not a problem but now, how can I use the shield?
I've different Digispark shields and used them with the oiginal Digispark USB Development Board.
My question is: how can I program the Digispark shields using the DigiX board and the interface shield?
Any help is appreciated

IIRC from when I was looking at this shield (I was also confused at first until I realized it was the double-backer bonus), it is designed to fit on pins 1-6. If I am remembering that correctly, then you should be able to just load your DigiSpark sketch onto the DigiX and it will run with minimal tweaking.

lol, I was going to use it to control a digispark. I even had plans to get another digispark and solder hearer pins on it. I guess I should have figured out it was for digispark shields....

I actually thought the same thing when I saw the text on the shield. For some reason it just didn't click right away that it might be for DigiSpark shields and not for the board itself. I wasn't sure what I'd use it for with the board itself, but I'm sure I'd think of something.

Actually, you probably could connect them together that way, just by setting those 6 pins on the DigiX to be inputs instead of outputs. Power, ground, etc would stay the same, I think. Don't trust me on that, as I don't have the devices in front of me at the moment. :)

I think I would need to swap 5v and VIN.
